THE SULLIVAN GROUP ANNOUNCES CONTRACT WITH LIFEPOINT
Pioneering Solution Supports Systematic Approach to Risk and Safety in the Emergency Departments of America
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. – June 30, 2006 – The Sullivan Group (TSG), a leading provider of risk management solutions for medical professionals, today announced the signing of LifePoint, Nashville, TN to it’s Emergency Medicine Risk Initiative (EMRI). EMRI has been proven to improve patient safety and reduce medical errors in the practice of emergency medicine.
EMRI presents a completely new concept in emergency medicine risk management: a systematic approach to risk and safety via cycle that includes education, performance reviews, and a real time bedside prompted documentation tool. The first step is education - TSG’s computer based training (CBT) is comprehensive library of physician and nursing educational courses delivered via the World Wide Web. Second is a web based audit tool that evaluates performance in critical aspects of quality of care and risk reduction aspects. The third portion of the cycle is the PromptCharts EM, which prompt the practitioner through the key clinical indicators for all high-risk patient complaints. Research has shown that this documentation method reliably results in the highest-quality medical records.
“EMRI was created based on the risk and safety programs from the airline and nuclear industries. We have demonstrated an ability to improve patient care, reduce litigation and drive economic benefits to the clients we serve, which exceed 500 US Hospitals. A continuous, systematic approach drives physician practice changes that result in several improvement in performance,” said Dr. Daniel Sullivan, founder and chief executive officer of TSG.
Jerry Riggs, Risk Management at LifePoint states: “We chose The Sullivan Group after a significant amount of research. Our belief is that the EMRI system will have a profound impact on our emergency departments performance, risk reduction, and best serves the patients that visit our facilities across the country. EMRI has clearly proven it’s effectiveness in the marketplace and we hope to see similar results in our facilities”.
