3. No Privileged Communications.

Also, any privilege regarding communications between a physician or other person required by law to report child abuse or neglect, and his or her patient or client, does not protect communications about child abuse or neglect. Therefore, a claim of privilege does not excuse a failure to report child abuse or neglect as required by law.

Usually state agencies inform the physician or other mandatory reporter, in writing, of the investigation and whether the allegations of abuse or neglect were indicated or unfounded.
